Before choosing an 8-zone, 10-zone or 12-zone wiring center, first separate three terms that are often confused.
Zone, Heating Loop and Actuator: What Is the Difference?
In residential projects, one zone often corresponds to one room, but not always. A large open space may be divided into more than one zone, while several smaller areas may share one thermostat.

How Many Actuators Can One Zone Control?
There is no universal answer. Different wiring centers have different terminal arrangements, output capacities and electrical limits.

- Maximum actuators per zone
- Maximum load per output
- Maximum total connected load

An 8-zone wiring center rated for two actuators per zone may theoretically connect up to 16 actuators, but it still cannot control nine independently controlled thermostat zones.
