Product Description

MENRED E91 Touch Screen Programmable Floor Heating Thermostat

The MENRED E91 is a touch screen floor heating thermostat for electric and hydronic underfloor heating systems. Its weekly program supports up to six temperature events per day, while manual mode and temporary override provide flexible control when the normal schedule changes. Three output configurations are available for direct electric-heating loads, powered control loads and potential-free control interfaces.

Choose the complete E91 model before ordering E91.716 is the 16A electric-heating version, E91.713 provides a 3A switched output, and E91.723 provides a 3A potential-free contact. The models share the same touch-screen appearance but have different outputs and wiring.

Product Overview

The E91 thermostat measures temperature and switches the connected heating device or control output according to the selected setpoint. When the measured temperature falls below the target, it calls for heat; after the target is reached, the output switches off. This on/off control helps maintain room comfort without unnecessary heating operation.

Users can select manual mode for a constant target temperature or programmed mode for automatic weekly operation. Up to six time-and-temperature events can be set per day. A temporary override changes the current target without deleting the saved schedule, and normal programmed operation resumes automatically at the next event.

The E91 series supports a built-in room sensor and an external floor sensor. The floor sensor can be used for floor-temperature limitation, which is especially important for electric heating and temperature-sensitive floor finishes. The permitted floor temperature must always follow the flooring supplier's instructions and the project design.

E91 Model Selection

Model Rated Current Output / Control Recommended Application
E91.716 16A Switched powered output Direct control of a compatible electric floor-heating load
E91.713 3A Switched powered output Compatible on/off actuator or other low-current heating-control load
E91.723 3A Potential-free contact Hydronic heating, boiler or control interface requiring a dry contact

Confirm the complete model, supply voltage, load type, actuator voltage, inrush current and terminal diagram before installation. A correctly rated contactor or additional control equipment may be required when the connected load exceeds the thermostat's permitted switching conditions.

Electric and Hydronic Floor Heating

Electric underfloor heating

E91.716 provides a 16A output for direct control of a compatible electric heating cable or heating mat. MENRED's published guidance gives a maximum direct electric-heating load of 3000W. For larger zones, divide the system into suitable control areas or use a correctly selected contactor under the direction of a qualified electrical designer.

Hydronic underfloor heating

E91.713 can operate a compatible on/off control load through its 3A switched output. E91.723 provides a 3A potential-free contact for equipment that requires a dry-contact signal. Confirm the actuator voltage, normally closed or normally open function, boiler input and required control logic before selection.

For compatible electric-heating products, see the MENRED electric underfloor heating mat. For water-based systems, compare MENRED thermal actuators and valves.

How Weekly Programming Works

  1. Set the clock and weekly program.
  2. Assign a start time and target temperature to each required event, up to six events per day.
  3. The thermostat changes the target automatically when each programmed event begins.
  4. Use manual mode whenever one fixed temperature is preferred.
  5. Use temporary override for a short-term change; the saved program resumes at the next event.

Sensor Modes and Floor Protection

Sensor Use Control Purpose
Built-in room sensor Controls heating according to measured room-air temperature.
External floor sensor Measures floor temperature for floor-based control where the selected configuration permits.
Room control with floor limit Controls room temperature while stopping heat demand if the floor reaches the configured limit.
Sensor error indication Er0 indicates that the internal sensor is unavailable or faulty. Er1 indicates that the external sensor is not connected, incorrectly selected or faulty. Resolve the sensor or configuration problem before operating the heating system.

Applications

  • Electric heating mats and cables in bathrooms, kitchens and living areas
  • Hydronic underfloor heating zones using on/off thermal actuators
  • Apartments, villas and residential renovation projects
  • Hotels, offices and light-commercial buildings requiring room-by-room schedules
  • Private-label and OEM floor-heating thermostat programs
  • Floor-heating packages supplied by distributors, installers and system integrators

Frequently Asked Questions

Is E91.716 suitable for electric underfloor heating?

Yes. E91.716 is the 16A version for direct control of a compatible electric-heating load. MENRED's published guidance gives a maximum direct load of 3000W. Verify the actual load, inrush current, wiring and local electrical requirements.

Which E91 model is used for hydronic floor heating?

Use E91.713 when compatible equipment requires a 3A powered output, or E91.723 when it requires a 3A potential-free contact. Confirm the actuator or boiler input before selection.

How many temperature events can the E91 schedule each day?

The E91 weekly program supports up to six temperature events per day for occupied, away and sleeping periods.

Can I temporarily change the programmed temperature?

Yes. Temporary override changes the current target without deleting the program. The thermostat returns to scheduled operation when the next event begins.

Does the E91 support a floor sensor?

Yes. The E91 series supports a built-in room sensor and an external floor sensor for floor-temperature limitation. Confirm whether the external sensor is included in the ordered package.

What do Er0 and Er1 mean?

Er0 indicates an internal-sensor problem. Er1 indicates an external-sensor connection, selection or failure problem. Resolve the sensor issue before operating the heating system.

Can E91.716 control more than 3000W directly?

Do not connect a larger load directly. Divide the area into suitable zones or use a correctly rated contactor designed by a qualified professional.

Does this E91 series include Wi-Fi or RS485?

Wi-Fi and RS485 are not listed for the E91.713, E91.723 and E91.716 configurations documented here. Select another confirmed MENRED model if remote control or building-management communication is required.
