Product Description

MENRED E51 Weekly Programmable Floor Heating Thermostat

The MENRED E51 is a weekly programmable floor heating thermostat with a clear LCD, manual control and scheduled operation. Up to six temperature events can be set per day to match occupancy and comfort requirements. Three output configurations are available for direct electric floor heating or on/off actuator control in hydronic underfloor heating systems.

E51.716 is the 16A electric-heating modelChoose E51.716 for direct control of a compatible electric heating load. Choose E51.713 for a 3A switched output, or E51.723 when a 3A potential-free contact is required. Always confirm the complete model, connected load and wiring diagram before ordering.

Product Overview

The E51 thermostat measures the indoor temperature and switches the connected heating device or valve actuator according to the selected setpoint. When the measured temperature falls below the target, the thermostat calls for heat; when the target is reached, it switches the output off to help prevent unnecessary energy use.

Users can choose manual mode for a constant temperature or programmed mode for automatic weekly operation. The schedule provides up to six temperature events per day. A temporary override allows the user to change the current target temperature without rewriting the saved program; programmed operation resumes automatically at the next scheduled event.

All three E51 configurations support a built-in room-temperature sensor and an external floor sensor for floor-temperature limitation. The external limit can help protect temperature-sensitive floor finishes and reduce the risk of floor overheating when the thermostat is used with electric underfloor heating.

E51 Model Selection

Model Rated Current Output Type Recommended Application
E51.716 16A Switched powered output Direct electric floor-heating load within the permitted rating
E51.713 3A Switched powered output On/off valve actuator or compatible low-current heating-control load
E51.723 3A Potential-free contact Hydronic floor heating, boiler or control interface requiring a dry contact

The control-system designer or qualified installer must verify the operating voltage, load type, inrush current, actuator wiring and local electrical requirements. A contactor may be required when the connected electric-heating load exceeds the thermostat's permitted switching capacity.

Electric and Hydronic Floor Heating Applications

Electric underfloor heating

E51.716 provides a 16A output for direct control of a compatible electric heating cable or heating mat load. MENRED's published guidance states a maximum electric-heating load of 3000W. For larger zones, divide the system into suitable control areas or use a correctly selected contactor under the direction of a qualified electrical designer.

Hydronic underfloor heating

E51.713 can control a compatible on/off valve actuator through its 3A switched output. E51.723 provides a 3A potential-free contact for projects that require a dry-contact signal. Confirm the actuator voltage, normally closed or normally open function and the required control logic before selection.

For compatible electric-heating products, see the MENRED electric underfloor heating mat. For water-based systems, compare the MENRED thermal actuators and valves range.

How Weekly Programming Works

  1. Set the thermostat's clock and weekly program.
  2. Assign a start time and target temperature to each required event, up to six events per day.
  3. The thermostat automatically changes the target temperature as each programmed event begins.
  4. Use manual mode when a fixed temperature is preferred.
  5. Use temporary override for a short-term change; the saved program resumes at the next event.

Applications

  • Electric heating mats and heating cables in bathrooms, kitchens and living areas
  • Hydronic underfloor heating zones using on/off thermal actuators
  • Apartments, villas and residential renovation projects
  • Hotels, offices and light-commercial buildings
  • Private-label and OEM floor-heating thermostat programs
  • Floor-heating packages supplied by distributors, installers and system integrators

Selection and Installation Checklist

Project Requirement Recommended Configuration
Direct electric floor-heating control up to the permitted load E51.716 — 16A
Powered 3A output for a compatible valve actuator E51.713 — 3A
Dry-contact interface required by boiler or control equipment E51.723 — 3A potential-free
Electric floor heating below timber, laminate or another temperature-sensitive finish Use the external floor sensor and set the limit according to the flooring supplier's requirement
Confirm before ordering Please provide the heating type, supply voltage, total connected load, actuator or boiler input requirements, floor construction, required sensor configuration, quantity and local certification requirements. Installation and wiring must be completed with the power isolated by a qualified professional and strictly according to the selected model's wiring diagram.

OEM and Project Support

MENRED supports distributors, floor-heating suppliers, HVAC contractors and project customers with model selection, thermostat-and-load matching, packaging discussion and project quotations. OEM requirements should be evaluated against order quantity, artwork, labeling, certification and target-market specifications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is E51.716 suitable for electric underfloor heating?

Yes. E51.716 is the 16A version intended for direct control of a compatible electric heating load. MENRED's published guidance gives a maximum electric-heating load of 3000W. Verify the actual load, inrush current, wiring and local electrical code before installation.

Which E51 model is used for hydronic floor heating?

Use E51.713 when a compatible 3A powered output is required, or E51.723 when the controlled equipment requires a 3A potential-free contact. Confirm the actuator or boiler input before selection.

How many temperature events can the E51 schedule each day?

The E51 weekly program supports up to six temperature events per day, allowing different settings for occupied, away and sleeping periods.

Can I temporarily change the scheduled temperature?

Yes. Temporary override changes the current target without deleting the program. The thermostat automatically returns to programmed operation when the next scheduled event begins.

Does the E51 thermostat support a floor sensor?

Yes. The E51 series supports a built-in room sensor and an external floor sensor for floor-temperature limitation. Confirm whether the external sensor is included in the ordered package.

Why is a floor-temperature limit important?

It helps reduce the risk of floor overheating and supports compliance with temperature limits specified by the flooring manufacturer, especially for electric heating under timber, laminate or other sensitive finishes.

Can E51.716 control a heating load above 3000W?

Do not connect a larger load directly. Divide the heating area into suitable zones or use a correctly rated contactor designed by a qualified professional, while keeping the thermostat within its permitted switching conditions.

Does the E51 include Wi-Fi or RS485 communication?

The E51.713, E51.723 and E51.716 configurations documented on this page are wired programmable thermostats. Wi-Fi and RS485 are not listed for these models. Select another MENRED thermostat series if remote or building-management communication is required.
